VICTIM’S FAMILY. A FORD EDGE UNRECOGNIZEABLE. THE SUV WAS DESTROYED AFTER BEING HIT BY STEEL COIL ALONG MILTHAON EATON ROAD. THE DRIVER WAS KILLED. AT THE START OF RUSH HOUR THIS MORNING, A SEMI WAS HEADING NORTH ON HAMILTON EATON ROAD, WHICH IS ALSO U.S. ROUTE 1.27 IT WAS CARRYING A LOAD OF STEEL COIL WHEN THE COIL BECAME UNSECURED AND FELL OFF THE BED OF THE TRUCK INTO THE SOUTHBOUND LANE. THE COIL HIT A SUV A THEND DRIVER WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCE.EN THIS STRETCH OF 127 REMAINED CLOSED FOR ABOUT SEVENOU HRS WHILE INVESTIGATORS RECONSTRUCTED THE CRH.AS THE STEEL ALSO HAD TO BE CUT AND HAULED AWAY. ROAD CREWS SAY THE IMPACT WAS SO POWERFUL, IT DAGAMED PART OF THE ROADWAY. TH E DAMAGE HAS SINCE BEEN FID.XE THE BUTLER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THE SEMI IS OWNED BY TOTAL PACKAGE EXPRESS OUT OF CINCINNATI. MESSAGES LEFT FOR THE COMPANY WERE NOT RETURNED. A coroner has identified a 33-year-old man killed when a steel coil fell from a semitruck, crushing an SUV. Blake Mulder, 33, of the Butler County village of Seven Mile, was killed in a Wednesday crash, the Butler County Coroner said Friday. The crash happened around 6:20 a.m. on US-127 and Morganthaler Road in Hamilton. Officials said a tractor-trailer, owned by Total Package Express Inc., was driving north on State Route 127 when a steel coil became unsecured, falling off the semitruck's bed and into the southbound lanes, hitting an SUV. The driver of that SUV, Mulder, was pronounced dead at the scene. "These are very difficult scenes to respond. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this time," a statement from Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones reads.Officials with Badin High School said Mulder is an alumni, and that there will be a vigil Friday night to celebrate his life.
