Coronation Street newcomer Sam Retford has warned fans of social media scams where people are pretending to be him.
The actor, who joined the soap as Curtis Delamere back in May, opened up about his ordeal after imposters tried to arrange meet-ups under his guise, admitting he has deleted his Facebook and Twitter accounts.
"I'm not very present on social media other than Instagram," he told the Daily Star. "It's a place for me to post pictures of me – with trees.
"I got rid of Facebook and Twitter. It's negative and takes a very strong-minded person to confront that every day. I had incidents of people organising to meet up with a fake me – that could be dangerous."
Sam went on to reveal that trolls have tried to bully him into responding to them, explaining: "Messages come in and go from being complimentary, when they see you're not engaging, then it becomes malicious. You can see it's there to spark a reaction.
"A lot of these people are doing this to get attention."

Meanwhile, the star has spoken about the ongoing romance storyline between Curtis and Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell), explaining things will get tougher amid his character's health condition.
"There's continued turbulence like we've seen already," he said. "Emma never seems to get an easy ride.
"With his condition as it is at the moment, to balance that and a booming relationship, is always going to be difficult. There's lots to come, which is exciting. It's a Game of Thrones moment waiting for the script to come in."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
