WARWICK — The Oakland Beach Elementary School  went virtual Friday after the school became aware of a blocked sewer line in the building.

"It was anticipated that it could be repaired today. Unfortunately,  it is a more involved project," the district wrote Thursday afternoon in a letter to parents.

"Due to this, Oakland Beach School will be distance learning on Friday.  Please refer to your child’s Google Classroom/teacher for more details.  If students do not have access to a device at home, the school will be open until 7 p.m. today to get a device."

An attendance form will be sent to parents' email address Saturday morning.

Oakland Beach was one of five schools in Warwick that were forced to postpone the start of school because the construction projects weren't completed on time. A sixth school, Sherman Elementary, remains closed due to mold problems.
