Quick Takes: Rod Stewart, Genesis, Ron Wood & Mick Taylor, David Bowie, Melissa Etheridge

Rod Stewart has announced his latest album, The Tears Of Hercules, for November 12th. Rod, who wrote nine of the album's dozen tracks, said in the album's liner notes “I’ve never said this before about any previous efforts, but I believe this is by far my best album in many a year.”
The album features the tune, “Touchline,” which he dedicated to his father, who taught him and his brothers to love football, a tradition Rod has passed down to his sons. Just released is the album's first single and video “One More Time.” (Press release)
Phil Collins feels that Genesis' upcoming “The Last Domino?” tour dates will be the last for the band. Collins told Mojo, “This English and American tour, that will be enough for me. Yes. The question mark was Tony Banks' idea.”
Tony Banks added, “I think it depends a little bit how it goes. How Phil stands up to it all. How the audience receive it, and how we all feel about it, really.”

Released today (September 17th) is Ron Wood's Mr. Luck – A Tribute To Jimmy Reed: Live At The Royal Albert Hall. The live album — billed to the Ronnie Wood Band — features Wood's longtime friend and the man he replaced in the Rolling Stones back in 1975 — guitarist Mick Taylor.
The show was recorded back in 2013 at London’s Royal Albert Hall and marks the second in a trilogy of live sets from Wood, following 2019’s Mad Lad: A Live Tribute To Chuck Berry.
Warner Music Group (WMG) and the estate of David Bowie have signed a global, career-spanning partnership for Bowie's music catalog. With the new deal, Warner Music will now have worldwide rights to five decades of Bowie’s work.
Expanding on Warner Music’s current agreement with the estate, which encompasses Bowie material from 1968 to 1999, the new licensing agreement will include the entirety of Bowie's 2000 to 2016 catalogue — including such albums as Heathen, Reality, The Next Day, and the global chart-topper Blackstar, which will come into the Warner Music fold in 2023. Out today (September 17th) is Melissa Etheridge's latest album, One Way Out. The collection — which is her 16th studio set — sees Etheridge and her band reworking nine tracks she wrote and demoed in the 1980's and '90s but never committed to wax.
