Convicted felon caught with fentanyl, drugs during traffic stop

A Miami man was arrested by Collier County deputies after they found fentanyl in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Michael Anthony Muniz, 33, was stopped by deputies in the area of Collier and Davis boulevards. A K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

During a search, detectives found:

  • 28 grams of fentanyl
  • more than 730 oxycodone pills
  • amphetamine pills
  • a loaded .380-caliber firearm

Muniz is described by the sheriff’s office as a convicted felon.

Muniz faces charges of trafficking fentanyl, trafficking oxycodone, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance.
