Houston Texans at Cleveland Browns odds, picks and prediction

The Houston Texans (1-0) and Cleveland Browns (0-1) meet Sunday at First Energy Stadium in Cleveland. Kickoff is scheduled for 1p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Texans at Browns odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Texans opened with a complete victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1, winning 37-21. Houston was a 3.5-point underdog, and nearly took care of the Over (45.5) by itself.

The Browns led for a majority of their opening game on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs, but eventually fell 33-29. They did grab the cover as 5.5-poing underdogs in the high-scoring affair.

Texans at Browns odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Browns 33, Texans 16

Money line

The Browns (-700) came up just short in a marquee game in Kansas City, while the Texans (+470) topped one of the worst teams over the past decade in a home game. Don’t look too much into the records, Cleveland is going to win.

However, AVOID as you can’t lay seven times your potential return. That’s amateur hour.

Against the spread

The BROWNS -12.5 (-112) make sense to play at home.

The Texans are a fairly deep team at the running back position, but if they fall behind early, QB Tyrod Taylor and a patchwork wide receiver corps does not have the skill to keep up.

Look for the Browns to run, run and run some more against a Texans rush defense that ranked last in the NFL with 160.3 YPG allowed last season.

Over/Under

The OVER 47.5 (-110) is the play here.

The Browns rush attack is going to gouge the Texans for big yardage, but don’t discount QB Baker Mayfield and the pass attack doing big things, either.

Cleveland is considered a team which could be a championship contender, and it will show out on offense against a team expected to be competing for the No. 1 overall pick.
