Kingsley Coman has undergone minor heart surgery to fix a health issue, says Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann.

As a result, the 25-year-old will be sidelined for two weeks after receiving medical attention on a heart arrhythmia.

Nagelsmann confirmed the surgical procedure, claiming the player suffered from shortness of breath.

He told reporters: "Kingsley Coman underwent surgery yesterday.

"His heartbeat rhythm had a slight disturbance with a minor added beat.

"At times he had a slight shortage of breath."

The 34-year-old added: "That's why we opted for long-term ECG monitoring and went ahead with this procedure.

"He will be doing cardio training again on Tuesday and won't be out of action for any more than one and a half to two weeks."

An arrhythmia is the heart beating with an irregular or abnormal rhythm.

It occurs when the electrical signals to the heart that coordinate heartbeats are not working properly.

This kind of procedure is not unheard of in football, with Michael Carrick undergoing a similar operation in 2017 during his time at Manchester United.

Coman, meanwhile, will miss his side's Bundesliga matches against VfL Bochum and Furth as well as the Champions League fixture against Dynamo Kiev.
