Gameday Saginaw, with football Player of the Week, standings, Week 4 schedule

Monte Davis helped lead Vassar to its second win of the season last week against Memphis.

Vassar equaled its win total from its last three seasons last week, shutting Memphis, 36-0, to improve to 2-1.

Monte Davis was in the middle of the success as a runner and receiver, earning MLive Saginaw Player of the Week honors.

Davis ran for 101 yards, including a 19-yard TD run. Davis also caught two passes for 54 yards, including a 35-yard TD catch. Davis added three 2-point conversion runs.

Davis netted 30,094 votes to claim first place in the poll, outdistancing Millington junior Luke Matusik, who received 26,299 votes.

Vassar was 1-8 in 2018, 1-8 in 2019 and 0-7 in 2020. The two wins equals the Vulcans’ win total in 2017 when they were 2-7.
