Syndication: The Indianapolis Star Jenna Watson/IndyStar via Imagn Content Services, LLC

The Madden ratings series is back for a 2nd season!!! In this series on Stampede Blue, I’m going to break down each player on a 50-100 Madden-style scale each week to help identify and illustrate which players are the best and most valuable players on the team. Please take note that these are current values and don’t take into account the value or future potential (or regression) of a player. Here is a breakdown of the tiers:

Tiers

95 to 100 — One of the 3 or 4 best players at his position in the NFL

Biggest Risers

Mike Strachan

Strachan contiunes to play that he belongs on the field and he is making himself a reliable target on big downs. He needs to get more snaps, especially with TY Hilton out. He has the potential to be the biggest riser over the course of the season.

Carson Wentz

All things considered, Wentz proved that he can still be an effective starter in the NFL. He received no help from his offensive line and the overall team was completely outplayed by Seattle. He still has a lot of room to grow and he still had happy feet in the pocket, but he showed he can still be an above-average starter in the NFL.

Biggest Fallers

Ju’lien Davenport

Davenport was terrible and is an average backup at best. He can’t be relied upon as a starter and he shouldn’t be seeing the field unless it’s to block on field goal. He is a massive liability and the Colts will need to bring a tight end to help him block otherwise he will continue to get manhandled until Fisher gets back.

Braden Smith

Smith disappointed in his first game since the massive contract extension. He was beat and allowed more sacks against Seattle than he did in the entire 2020 season. It could just be a bump in the road, but his play is worth monitoring in future weeks.
