The English Premier League is one of the most interesting sports leagues in the world. Although last season's champion race was wrapped up sooner than usual, it was still riveting to see which teams would be going to Champions League, Europa League, and the new Conference League. The relegation race was wrapped with games to spare, something that does not happen often in England. Nonetheless, in this post we're specifically focusing on Premier League players to watch moving forward.

However, this season, it seems like it will be more interesting. Manchester United got a massive boost by signing Cristiano Ronaldo and Chelsea got it by signing Romelu Lukaku. Champions Manchester City added Jack Grealish, while Liverpool has Virgin Van Dijk back from injury. In terms of other stronger teams, Tottenham kept hold of striker Harry Kane and Leicester City held together most of their squad.

As things stand right now, while Chelsea and City stand as the biggest favorites, there is still a ton of talent in this league. Thus, here is the best of the bunch – three stars to look out for in this season of EPL!

Premier League Players To Watch

Jorginho, Chelsea

Jorginho has gone from a good midfield option in Italy to one of the best players in the world. Even though according to Antonio Cassano's interview with Goal.com, Jorginho does not feel he deserves the Ballon D'or, many would disagree. He has been absolutely amazing for both club and country. Firstly, he won the Champions League with Chelsea, seemingly out of nowhere. On the other hand, he led a great Italian generation to a win in the EURO's held last summer.

It is truly his immense skill to control the pace of the game that is so amazing to watch. However, it is so hard to even notice when Jorginho is playing, which is the part that completely baffles. It is Kante in Chelsea and Veratti in Italy that took most of the glory, and it was only a few days after the EURO final where Jorginho's name came about in Ballon D'or discussions.

He has had the privilege to share the midfield with some amazing players. The previously mentioned Kante and Veratti are just a small part of the pool of players, which also includes Kovacic, Locatelli, Mount, Sensi, and many others he shared the field with in the past. However, the underlying thing that persists is that Jorginho is constantly and consistently great. If he continues in that way in the upcoming season, Chelsea has nothing to worry about!

Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur

There are probably better players than Kane that deserve to be here. Manchester United has Ronaldo, City has Kevin De Bruyne, Chelsea has Lukaku and many other teams also boast amazing players. However, it is hard to find a team so dependent on one player like Spurs are on Kane.

The English striker scored an immense 23 goals last season and added 14 assists. That was league-best in both categories and according to OptaJoe, that is a feat that has not been done in the Premier League since 1994, when former Manchester United striker Andy Cole did it. That is absolutely uncanny, but even with Kane and his best teammate Heung Min Son, Tottenham had a poor season.

There was immense speculation over the summer about the future of the Englishman, fueled by his interview where he specified that he wants to win titles. It is clear that it was not going well with Spurs, so he tried to force a move to City. Fortunately for Spurs fans, the move was not materialized and Kane announced he would be staying at least for one more season. The Spurs clearly need him and he will be the key player for their season.

Raphael Varane, Manchester United

Similar to Kane, there are much better players than Varane in the Premier League. However, Varane will be absolutely critical for the upcoming United season. The attack is there, with Ronaldo, Sancho, Cavani, and Rashford as options, but the defensive part has to be there as well. Clearly, Harry Maguire is the main center-back while the other position in the center of the defense had a gap.

Of course, both Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly are not horrible players. If they were, they would not be playing in front of the faithful in Old Trafford. However, it is clear that they were not up to the needed quality. United conceded 12 goals more than champions Manchester City and that is a huge gap.

Varane was brought in to help bridge that gap at least to some degree and he will definitely help. However, while this is a tall and pacey defender who can have incredible moments on the pitch, his consistency can be a problem. In Madrid, he used to have good games followed by shockers, where he would commit huge mistakes that cost the team, like the game versus Manchester City in the Champions League in 2020. However, should he improve on that front, Varane will be a key player going forward for the Devils.

Nevertheless, do you agree with our Premier League players to watch of Raphael Varane, Harry Kane, and Jorginho?
