Giant pelican will anchor final phase of River's Edge project in Council Bluffs
The City of Council Bluffs said Friday Phase Four of the River's Edge project along the Missouri River is underway with construction of "Belle's Play Garden". The garden will feature play and educational elements, and a 15-foot-tall pelican.The wooden play feature will provide children with a lookout purchase, climbing structures and a slide.Phase four also will include an observation tower, pier, and a treetop trail."Our riverfront exists as a place of significance that builds pride and community among residents," said Council Bluffs Mayor Matt Walsh in a news release.Private donations are funding the $50 million effort to finish phase four of the plan. The Iowa West Foundation has contributed $15 million of that.
