LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A piece of Las Vegas history has gone up in flames this morning as the Mount Charleston Lodge was engulfed in fire.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that the Mount Charleston Lodge burned down this morning. Most importantly, none of our team members nor any members of the Mount Charleston community were harmed in the fire," said marketing director Christina Ellis with Ellis Island Hotel, Casino & Brewery, owners of the lodge.

"The surrounding area and the cabins were both left untouched. We'd like to thank all the first responders who assisted with keeping everything contained this morning. The Lodge was a beloved landmark, and we plan on rebuilding and recreating the atmosphere and charm that so many were able to enjoy throughout the years.”

Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada originally reported the fire in a tweet at 5:51 a.m.

The agency says there is currently no access to Mary Jane Falls and the lodge area of the mountain.
