Kearney police make arrest in stabbing, assault

KEARNEY, Neb.-Police in Kearney have made an arrest after a man was stabbed during a disturbance.

Police said at approximately 9:12 a.m. on Thursday Kearney Police were called to a local hospital for a male subject who arrived by private vehicle with an apparent stab wound.

Officers were able to determine that the stabbing occurred outside a residence located at 1712 1st Avenue in South Kearney following a disturbance between two (2) males. The initial investigation revealed the 40-year-old male victim had suffered a non-life-threatening laceration to his upper arm.

The suspect was identified as Brandon J. Jacobs, age 38 of Kearney. Officers located Mr. Jacobs a short time later near the residence on 1st Avenue. Mr. Jacob has been arrested in connection with this incident, and is currently being held in the Buffalo County Jail. He is charged with 1st Degree Assault, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, Felon in Possession of a Deadly Weapon, Resisting Arrest with a Dangerous Weapon, and Obstructing a Peace Officer.
