All schools in the Southeast Delco School District were closed Friday after district officials received a Safe2Say tip about a possible threat on school grounds at Academy Park High School Thursday evening.

The district announced on its website that out of an abundance of caution officials were closing all district schools and offices while law enforcement investigates the issue.

The closure will continue throughout the weekend.  Transportation and all extracurricular events are also cancelled. Academy Park was scheduled to play Chichester in football Saturday morning at the high school field.

On Aug. 27 a shooting following the Academy Park- Pennsbury football game resulted in the death of 8-year-old Fanta Bility who attended the game. Her sister was also injured and at least three others were injured, possibly as many as six, although the specific number of injured has not yet been released.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said there was a “high probability” that Fanta had been struck from a bullet fired by a police officer. He also said that the incident began when there were gun shots down the street in the 900 block of Coates Street. The football stadium is in the 700 block of Coates.

Officials said an update to the situation will be provided over the weekend.
