Man wanted in connection with Kennett Square stabbing captured

KENNETT SQUARE — A man wanted in connection with a stabbing in Kennett Square last month has been taken into custody.

On Sept. 14, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Christian Watson, 24, of Kennett Square, was taken into custody for his involvement in the stabbing incident that occurred in the 500 block of Magnolia Street on Aug. 30, 2021. Investigators determined that Watson stabbed a 22-year-old man in the abdomen during a fight that had occurred between the victim and other associates of Watson. The stabbing came around the time of a hit-and-run accident.

Watson was turned over to the Chester County Prison for Central Booking. His preliminary arraignment was held from the prison via video in front of Magisterial District Judge John Hipple and his bail was set at $250,000 cash. Watson was remanded to the prison after being unable to post bail. The investigation is ongoing as to the actions of others involved in the incident.

Kennett Square

False ID

On Sept. 4, 2021, officers were dispatched for a one vehicle accident involving damage to a property in the 600 Block of South Broad Street, Kennett Square Borough. The operator of the vehicle, later identified as Alonzo Dennison, advised Officers he was attempting to avoid a collision with another vehicle in the 600 Block of South Union Street when he ended up going through a fence and landing in the properties parking lot. Upon further investigation, it was found this initial report was falsification of the incident. In light of the evidence obtained, Dennison has been charged with unsworn falsification of reports, reckless driving and other related offenses.

Drug charges

Charles Malizia, 27, of Wilmington, Del., was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), after he was found to be in possession of controlled substances and related paraphernalia, following a pedestrian stop for suspicion of intoxication. The incident occurred on June 21, 2021 at approximately 9:52 a.m., in the 100 Block of East State Street, Kennett Square Borough. On Sept. 3, 2021, forensic analysis results were received confirming the presence of a controlled substance. Charges were filed.

Caln

Bobble Head stolen

Caln police are attempting to identify a suspect in a retail theft that occurred on Aug. 21, 2021 at Giant Foods in Thorndale. The suspect stole a 43-inch tall Snoop Dog Bobble Head valued at $300 and left the parking lot in a red Toyota Corolla. Credit card theft

A 61-year-old female was dining at Panera Bread in November 2018 when she found her credit cards missing. She later discovered her credit cards were being used unlawfully at local stores. Two subjects were captured on surveillance video allegedly using the cards. An investigator at another agency saw the surveillance images and identified the subjects as Lexus Whitaker and Anthony Waters. Warrants were issued for both. They have evaded apprehension since that time. Phone contact was made with Whitaker in July 2021. She stated she “has too much going on” to turn herself in. Police are continuing to locate the pair.

State police

School burglary

On Sept. 14, at 3:19 a.m., multiple troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Avondale Barracks were dispatched to Avon Grove High School for the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, contact was made with the caller who said he was summoned to the school by an alarm. When he entered the school, he observed two people, a man and a woman, inside the building. He said both fled the building after they were spotted. Troopers conducted a search of the immediate area to no avail. The interior of the building was searched, and nothing appeared to be missing. Police have surveillance images of the suspects. One is a white man, about 30 years old wearing blue shorts and a Miami Dolphins jersey with Williams on the back. The other was a woman, also about 30 years old, with blonde hear wearing a short black dress. Anyone with information on the crime is urged to call 610-268-2022.

Retail theft

On Sept. 14 at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers responded to the Ace Hardware Store, 720 Strasburg Road, East Bradford Township, for a report of a theft. Upon arrival store employees reported that a man exited the store with a Stihl auger valued at $600 and failed to pay. The man entered a silver minivan driven by a white female and fled the area. Catalytic converter heft

On Sept. 3, West Chester Police received a report of theft of auto parts from a motor vehicle. The victim’s car was parked in the parking lot area of 201 South Matlack Street apartment complex when sometime overnight someone removed the catalytic converter valued at approximately $1,000. The actors fled the area in the truck pictured below, a black 2009 GMC. Cell phone theft

On Sept. 15, 2021 at 2:07 a.m. in the 50 block of North High Street, West Chester Police Officers made contact with Devon Gray, 23, from West Chester, who was highly intoxicated. Through an investigation, Gray was found to be in possession of a cell phone that was stolen from a bar in the area. Gray was transported to the West Chester Borough Police Department where she was processed and released on summons. Gray is charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking, Receiving Stolen Property, and Public Drunkenness. A preliminary hearing is pending.

Indecent exposure

On Sept. 14, 2021 at 7:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of W. Washington Street for a report of a man exposing himself. The victim positively identified James Fedrick, 56, from West Chester, as the person that was exposing himself to her. As a result, Fedrick was taken into custody and transported to West Chester Police Department where he was processed and later transported to Chester County Prison for arraignment. Fedrick was charged with indecent exposure, open lewdness, and harassment.

Key fob found

On Sept. 13, a resident turned in a vehicle key fob to the Westtown East Goshen Regional Police Department that was found near the intersection of Route 926 and Shiloh Road in Westtown Township.
