The battle for the Golden State Warriors' final roster spot is heating up, as a new contender emerges to contend for a coveted spot as the backup to Stephen Curry.
As per Anthony Slater's report on The Athletic, the Warriors thought former Indiana Pacers guard Darren Collison looked good in his workout. (via The Athletic, u/nonbiasednbafan on Reddit)

If Collison could return to his old playing form, he'd be a great addition for the Warriors. In his final season for the Pacers two years ago, he looked solid, averaging 11.2 points on nearly 47% shooting and 40% from three. He also provided six assists per game and had 1.4 steals per game. He would be an excellent backup option to Curry.
However, Collison is facing stiff competition for the final roster slot. The Warriors were reported to have interest in Isaiah Thomas, and have scheduled a workout with the team next week. If the Warriors decide they need a stronger scorer for their 15th man, Collision could be in trouble.
However, it is impressive that Collison is in fine basketball playing condition. The guard suddenly retired two years ago, citing his religion as the main reason to hang up his sneakers. There's a reason why championship teams wanted him during the 2019 offseason. If the Warriors are able to get just the 2019 version of Collison on their roster, that's a significant win for the team. He's a solid point guard who can hold it down when Steph Curry is resting.
It's a win-win situation for Warriors fans: Both Collison and Thomas are two great end-of-the-bench players. All that's left is to wait for the front office's decision.
