The National Hurricane Center has highlighted three disturbances in the Atlantic that could develop.
The first disturbance is a disorganized cluster of storms off the coast of Africa. It has a low chance of formation over the next five days.
The second wave is about 1000 miles west-southwest of Cabo Verde. It has a high chance of formation over the next five days, and a depression could form this weekend as it moves west-northwestward.
The third wave is an area of low pressure several hundred miles east of the Carolinas. It also has a high chance of formation of the next two days.
Regardless of development, this system is expected to bring rain to parts of Maryland Friday afternoon.
Most models agree that this area of low pressure will stay over the open Atlantic.
The next two names on the list are Odette and Peter.
Meanwhile, Nicholas is post tropical, stationed over central Louisiana. It's still producing rain across the state.
