The New Bloomfield R-3 School District Board of Education approved the purchase of a Chevrolet Silverado for $36, 669 Thursday at its meeting. The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 in the central office meeting room.

NEW BLOOMFIELD - The New Bloomfield R-3 School District Board of Education approved the purchase of a Chevrolet Silverado for $36, 669 at its Thursday meeting.

They also approved the amended Employee Manual as presented and then rescinded and then approved policy number C-165-P and I-125-P.

After reviewing the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Service Plan as presented, the board decided to approve it due to the positive feedback they have received from faculty and parents. The plan will continue to be reviewed each month.

Members then heard from Academy Instructor Brett Craighead about the NB Academy, which provided severely at-risk students with an opportunity to earn high school credit and receive a diploma by attending and successfully completing an alternative school program. Since the program was implemented, we have had over 150 different students in the program. We have had 57 total graduates from the alternative school and several others who have graduated after spending time in the academy. It has been a valuable tool in keeping some students in school who would have otherwise dropped out.

Superintendent Sarah Wisdom informed the board that the New Bloomfield Girl Scout troop donated 100 pairs of earbuds to the elementary. She then went on to tell the board that the elementary has 363 students enrolled. Junior and High School Principal Paul Cloudwright also infromed them with enrollment numbers. The junior and high school has 350 with 11 students officially enrolled in virtual education for this semester. The district will be hosting four Partners in Education (PIE) meetings a year. The first meeting will be October 20th at 6 p.m. at the high school.

The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 in the central office meeting room.
