Former Cairns Taipans star Cameron Oliver is reportedly set to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic.

The 25-year-old recently played Summer League with the Golden State Warriors after appearing in the final four games of the regular season with the Houston Rockets, averaging 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds on 57.6 percent from the field. In the final game of the regular season against the Atlanta Hawks, he posted 10 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Oliver was released from the final year of his deal with the Taipans to chase his NBA opportunity after starring in the NBL for two seasons. He averaged 17.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks across 24 games in 2020-21.

The 6-foot-8 high-flyer, who went undrafted in 2017 joins Chaundee Brown and Mac McClung on Exhibit 10 deals and will likely play in the G League for the South Bay Lakers, however the Lakers roster currently stands at just 13 players, giving Oliver a real chance to crack the 15-man rotation.
