HBO's 'Hard Knocks' to feature Indianapolis Colts for first in-season episodes

Sept. 16 (UPI) -- For the first time in franchise history, the Indianapolis Colts will be featured on the acclaimed HBO series Hard Knocks later this season.

The Colts, however, will be featured in a different capacity compared to previous iterations of the Emmy Award-winning series. It is the first time that HBO will follow an NFL team during the regular season.

Up until this point, the series -- which features cameras capturing behind-the-scenes footage of teams -- had followed NFL franchises during training camp.

"We could not be more thrilled to bring Hard Knocks and the remarkable behind-the-scenes access it provides for the entirety of an NFL season," NFL Films senior executive Ross Ketover said in a statement Thursday night. "Thanks to HBO, along with the incredible cooperation from the Colts, we are able to deliver a groundbreaking new edition of the series."

One of the most intriguing storylines for the Colts this season has been quarterback Carson Wentz, who joined Indianapolis this past off-season. The former Philadelphia Eagles signal-caller is attempting to revitalize his career after he was benched and later traded due to his on-field struggles in 2020.

The first episode of Hard Knocks featuring the Colts will premiere Nov. 17 at 10 p.m. EDT on HBO and HBO Max, with each episode airing the following Wednesday.
