60 pounds of meth, 25k fentanyl pills seized in Salinas multi-agency raid
On Thursday the Salinas Police Department unveiled the largest drug bust in Monterey County history.
Nearly $2 million worth of illegal drugs were taken off the streets by Salinas police and federal agents.
Operation Blackhawk stretched from Salinas to Yuma and even veteran Salinas officers can’t remember this many drugs being taken off the streets in one bust.
Salinas police said they found 60 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly seven pounds of cocaine and heroin, 25,000 Fentanyl pills as well as cash and drugs.
“The good guys won today. The good guys won,” said Salinas Mayor Kimbley Craig.
The months-long investigation involved more than 170 law enforcement agents. In total, eight people were arrested and are now facing drug charges, gang enhancements and conspiracy to commit murder.
Investigators said that Castroville-based trucking company NorCal Transporation was at the heart of the drug operation. The owners are accused of conspiring with local gangs and a deadly Mexican drug cartel to transport drugs to the Central Coast.
