The City of Savannah announced its goal to raise $190,000 for the United Way of the Coastal Empire annual campaign. This year, the campaign is named Forward United.
“We recognize that by our work, we are doing the work because we raise the money that goes directly to where the needs are, and the United Way, through its non-profit partners, knows exactly where that need is,” said Mayor Van Johnson.
Cecilia Russo Turner, this year’s campaign chair is encouraging everyone to be involved in some way, shape, or form. Whether you want to give, become a partner or need assistance.
“We invite you to become involved. If you can help, please give. if you need help, please ask. This is what we’re all about, this is what is the most important," said Russo Turner.
The Forward United campaign officially kicked off in September and through community funds, the campaign will be able to address the direct needs communities in Savannah are faced with.
“We’re a part of this work just like the United Way is. So, I want to encourage all of our employees, to reach deep in their pockets, and give what you can to this amazing campaign," said Joseph Melder, Savannah City Manager.
