Kirill Tyutyayev scored a pair of goals as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Dallas Stars 5-4 Thursday to open the NHL Prospects Tournament at Centre I.C.E. in Traverse City.

Lucas Raymond, Detroit’s fourth overall selection in 2020, also scored a goal as did his linemate Joe Veleno. Jonatan Berggren assisted on both of those goals. Chase Pearson provided a goal and an assist.

Tyutyayev is a small (5-9, 146) but highly skilled forward the Red Wings drafted in the seventh round in 2019 (190th overall). He hails from Yekaterinburg, Russia, the same hometown as Pavel Datsyuk, and played in Belarus last season (11 goals, 32 points in 43 games).

The Red Wings led 5-1 in the second period before the Stars tightened in the third period with a pair of goals from Riley Tufte.

Victor Brattstrom played the entire game and made 30 saves for the Red Wings, who were outshot 34-22.

The Red Wings face the St. Louis Blues on Saturday (7 p.m., live streamed on DetroitRedWings.com).
