UPDATE (8:55 p.m.) – Draper Police Department has confirmed with 2News that the male paraglider has died.
Draper City Fire crews are responding to a paraglider who fell 50 feet from the sky at a popular paragliding park near Point of the Mountain Thursday evening.
Fire Chief Clint Smith with Draper City Fire said that they were first alerted to the accident near 15300 South and Steep Mountain Drive around 7:30 p.m.
Witnesses told first responders that the male paraglider was seen falling from at least 50 feet in the air to the ground.
Smith said that the paraglider landed 100 to 200 yards from the ridgeline of the park and that crews are having difficulty reaching the man.
While crews have not been able to properly assess the man's injuries, it's believed that he may be in serious condition Smith said.
Draper City Fire has requested a medical helicopter and a second helicopter with a hoist to help reach the injured paraglider.
