South Carolina man dies in 6-car crash in Waterbury

Multiple cars are involved in a crash that killed a man on Route 100 in Waterbury. No one else died, but several cars are damaged.

WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - A South Carolina man died in a multiple-vehicle crash Thursday in Waterbury.

It happened on Route 100 near Spruce Haven Road around 2 p.m. Police say Robert Hunter, 67, was headed north and drove across the center line and hit a dump truck driven by Harold Kittredge, 68, of New Haven. Hunter died on the way to the hospital. Kittredge was also sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the crash resulted in four other cars piling up, but no other injuries were reported.

Route 100 was closed for about four hours.
