Grammy winning bass player leads Latin music program at Berklee College of Music
Internationally renowned musicians travel from all over the world to Boston to perform with a curated group of musicians from the Berklee College of Music. It's part of the college's Latino program, led by four-time Grammy winner Oscar Stagnaro. "When I moved to Boston -- this is funny -- the first gig, I was playing country western music," he said. Stagnaro, a Peruvian bass player, eventually returned to his musical roots and to the classroom, to teach. He joined the faculty in 1987 and expanded the school's Latin music curriculum. Today, he's considered one of the top Latin bass players in the world. In 2014, the school formally launched Berklee Latino to elevate the public awareness and appreciation of Latin music and its cultural impact.

Internationally renowned musicians travel from all over the world to Boston to perform with a curated group of musicians from the Berklee College of Music. It's part of the college's Latino program, led by four-time Grammy winner Oscar Stagnaro.
