HYDE PARK – Violet Avenue at the border between the Town of Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park is closed for an accident investigation on Thursday evening.
Initial reports indicate that a pedestrian was struck by a Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office vehicle operated by a deputy. The road is currently closed between Cottage Street in Poughkeepsie and Kilmer Avenue in Hyde Park.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of the Hyde Park Assisted Living Facility on Violet Avenue at approximately 7:37 p.m. The Town of Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park police are assisting the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
A source told Mid Hudson News that CPR was being performed on the victim moments after the accident.
