Middle Twp Boys Basketball Program Hires New Coach

Tom Feraco, 63, one of the most successful basketball coaches in South Jersey history, announced that he will not return for the 2021-2022 season as coach of the Middle Township High School boys basketball team, will be replaced by one of his former players, LaMarr Greer.

Greer finished his high school career with 2,637 career points and led the Panthers to the 1993 Tournament of Champions, before going on to play collegiality at Florida State will take over the Panthers program.

The Board of education approved his hire on Thursday night.

“LaMarr Greer is basketball royalty in our community and across the state of New Jersey,” Middle Township superintendent Dave Salvo said. “Our student athletes will certainly benefit from LaMarr’s experience on the basketball court.”

Greer, who had a long professional career overseas, was an assistant under Feraco for the past two seasons.

Feraco walked the sidelines of Middle Twp. from 1981-2016 before stepping down after 35 years on the sideline. He returned to the sidelines and coached the Panthers again starting in 2019, before stepping down back in August.

Greer had his No. 44 retied by the Middle Township basketball program in February of 2020.

The Panthers went 2-4 in the COVID-19 shortened season, but return a a pretty young roster that features plenty of talented players for Greer to work with this season.
