Dennis-Yarmouth beats volleyball 3-0

Posted

(Sept. 16, 2021) The varsity volleyball team couldn't keep a two-match win streak going Thursday afternoon, falling to Dennis-Yarmouth three sets to none at home.

"Dennis-Yarmouth is a state-championship caliber team," Whalers head coach Andrew Viselli said after the match. "For us, it comes down to passing, and being more consistent with passing."

The loss brings the team to 2-2 on the season.

Nantucket got off to a slow start against the Dolphins, losing the first set 25-13. They were able to make the second and third sets more competitive, but still fell 25-18 and 25-16.

"They were looking for one person to take the lead and they ended up following each other instead of just playing," Viselli said.

Amelie Roberts and Kalina Natcheva led the team with six kills each. Bianca Santos had 12 assists in the match.

The Whalers are scheduled to take on Falmouth at home Saturday at noon.
