Netflix Announces Premiere Date Of Limited Series ‘True Story’ And Shares First Look Images Featuring Kevin Hart & Wesley Snipes

Netflix announced that the upcoming limited series, True Story, will premiere on November 24, via TVLine. The show stars Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes. According to Netflix’s description, the show is about “a tour stop becomes a matter of life and death for one of the world’s most famous comedians when the consequences of a lost evening with his wayward older brother threaten to destroy everything he’s built.” Hart will play the comedian named Kid, and Snipes will play Kid’s brother, Carlton.

Hart’s role is different than anything we’ve seen from him. Known for his stand-up comedy performances, this new character marks another one of the comedian’s dramatic role following Fatherhood. Hart’s role, Kid, is a fictionalized figure of himself. As the story takes place in Philadelphia, Hart’s hometown, the show could resemble many of Hart’s real-life events. Hart will also executively produce this show. Before, Hart executively produced and hosted TKO: Total Knock Out, an obstacle course competition series, for CBS in 2018.

True Story is Snipes’ return to television since his appearance on the FX vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows back in 2019Snipes is known for his performance in the Blade film trilogy, Passenger 57The Expendables 3, and more.

Eric Newman, the executive producer and showrunner of Narcos: Mexico, will join Hart to executively produce True Story. Stephen Williams, who produced Lost and Watchmen, will direct and produce the first four episodes. Hanelle Culpepper, known for her work in Star Trek Picard and Kung Fu, will direct the last four episodes.

Other cast members of the series include Tawny Newsome (Bajillion Dollar Propertie$), Paul Adelstein (Prison Break), Will Catlett (Love Is), Chris Diamantopoulos (Silicon Valley), Lauren London (ATL), Ash Santos (American Horror Story), and Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy).
