Greeley cop log: Strong smell of ‘possibly soap’ disrupts sleep; water bill dispute ends in garden destruction

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a summary of crime reports taken from the Greeley Police Department’s daily logs. Only a few of the hundreds of reports will be used in this weekly column because of space limitations.

Sept. 3

10:45 a.m.: A man in Greeley said he wanted his brother and sister to be arrested because they were trying to ruin his life. He claimed his siblings were using evil spirits to harm him.

1:45 p.m.: A caller in the 3100 block of 17th Avenue reported receiving a phone call from an unknown caller that sounded like a small child who said, “Mommy, help me, please. I’m bleeding.”

2:45 p.m.: A caller in the East 8th Street and Balsam Avenue area reported a two-vehicle collision where the other driver got out of his vehicle with a beer in his hand and threw it in the street.

10 p.m.: A woman in the 1200 block of 29th Street Road reported a strong smell of “possibly soap” coming from next door that had been going on for months and keeping her up at night.

Sept. 4

1:45 p.m.: A caller near 10th Avenue and 15th Street reported a man who was sitting against the church and scraping something with a knife.

6:45 p.m.: A caller in the 3500 block of 16th Street reported a man with face tattoos who was flicking cigarettes at children in the park.

Sept. 5

12:15 a.m.: A caller in the 2500 block of 15th Avenue Court reported someone was in the mailbox attached to the side of the house.

10:30 a.m.: A caller in Greeley reported a friend’s 12-year-old daughter was destroying the caller’s home.

11 a.m.: A caller on 20th Street and 35th Avenue reported a man who looked like he just had a seizure drove off in an orange vehicle and hit another vehicle.

12:30 p.m.: A caller in the 200 block of 21st avenue reported having an argument with a brother over a water bill, which resulted in him throwing concrete blocks into the caller’s garden.

7 p.m.: A caller in the 1700 block of 7th Avenue reported neighbors were told by officers to turn the music off, but after officers left, they turned the music back on. The neighbors were spray-painting, and fumes were going inside the caller’s home.

Sept. 6

1 p.m.: A caller in Greeley reported there were a number of sick kids at the location and the doctor told them to stay home in case they had COVID-19, but the caller’s daughter would not stay home and left with a friend.

5:30 p.m.: A woman in the 1700 block of 8th Avenue reported electricity was coming up from the concrete, dirt and stakes and the ground was lighting up.

6:15 p.m.: A caller at a retail store in the 2600 block of 11th Avenue reported a customer locked himself in the bathroom for seven hours.

11:15 p.m.: A caller in the 800 block of 8th Street reported a woman urinating outside of the caller’s living room window. When asked to leave, she continued to urinate and cursed at the caller.
