Sally Petitte will be the next varsity softball coach at Twinsburg.

Twinsburg superintendent Kathryn Powers announced the recommendation of Sally Petitte as the high school's new varsity head softball coach via press release on Thursday.

“I'm very honored and excited to accept the head softball coach position," Petitte said in the release. "As a young athlete, coaching was always the next step that I aspired to achieve. To be able to pass on my love of the game, and continue to teach the sport I love so much, is humbling. I'm looking forward to working with the players and parents, and watching the program flourish.”

Petitte was the JV softball coach this past season. She has been a vocal music teacher at Samuel Bissell Elementary School and George G. Dodge Intermediate School since the 2017-18 school year.

Superintendent Kathryn Powers stated in the release, “We are excited that Coach Petitte will assume the Varsity Softball Coaching position for the Twinsburg High School Lady Tigers Softball Team. She knows our student athletes and will work diligently to assist them in doing well on the playing field, while also supporting our athletes in building a positive team culture. We feel Coach Petitte will take our program to the next level.”

Growing up, Petitte started playing softball when she was 8 years old, and won a national championship with her travel team in Michigan. She played four years of varsity softball at Brighton High School in Michigan, and played three years in college (one year at Northern Kentucky University and two years at Baldwin Wallace University) as well.

“I'm excited for Coach Petitte to get working with our girls and put in the hard work it takes to build a program the right way," athletic director Brian Fantone said. "Coach Petitte is focused on creating a positive environment and culture in the program from the youth leagues up through the high school level. I'm looking forward to seeing a renewed energy with our student athletes in the softball program."
