Amazon’s The Wheel of Time season 2 has tapped Sanaa Hamri for a key role behind the camera.

According to Deadline, Sanaa Hamri has officially signed on to serve as executive producer on The Wheel of Time season 2. In addition, the Empire alum will also serve as director for half of the series’ second season.

Word of Hamri’s involvement with the highly anticipated adaptation’s second season comes on the heels of Amazon debuting the first teaser trailer for the fantasy series’ first season, which doesn’t premiere until mid November.

Based on the best selling fantasy series of the same name by author Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time takes place in a world where magic exists, but only certain women are allowed to access it. It’s there that we meet Morianne (Rosamund Pike)— a member of an incredibly powerful group of women known as the Ages Sedai.

When Morianne arrives in the small town of Two Rivers, she suddenly finds herself embarking on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with a group of five individuals, one of whom has been prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, and holds the power to either save or destroy humanity.

The first three episodes of the series premiere on November 19, with new episodes dropping every Friday thereafter until the season 1 finale on December 24.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see The Wheel of Time season 2 debut via Amazon.
