Rob Shannon Softball Tournament turns the big 5-0 this weekend

The Rob Shannon Softball Tournament is celebrating its golden anniversary.

On Saturday, four teams will battle for the title at the 50th annual tournament which will be played the Rob Shannon Sports Complex on Cedarville Road in Millville.

The women’s softball tournament has helped raise more than $350,000 over the last five decades for various groups, including Millville youth athletics, arts and scholarships for students in Holly City.

Vineland’s Dynasty will play Millville’s We Got the Runz in the opening game at 9 a.m. Millville’s Pitches Gone Wild will play Casey’s Place, of Quakertown, Pa., at 10:15 a.m. The championship is slated to begin around 4 p.m.
