BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Sen. Bill Cassidy traveled to Tangipahoa Parish on Thursday, Sept. 16 to view the damage that the parish is currently suffering from due to Hurricane Ida.
Cassidy’s tour in Tangipahoa Parish marks his tenth parish tour to asses damages.
Cassidy assessed the damage with Parish President Robby Miller and discussed what the parish needs in order to recover from the hurricane.
Cassidy said it was a great tour with the parish president.
“Saw the tree damage, the damage to the power lines, but also saw the recovery taking place,” Cassidy said.
Cassidy has reviewed damage or met with officials in Jefferson, Lafourche, Livingston, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany and Terrebonne Parishes to help determine disaster relief following Hurricane Ida.
Cassidy met with President Joe Biden when he came down to Louisiana to view damages on Sept. 3 and stressed the need for supplemental disaster aid for those still affected by the hurricanes from 2020.
“Tangipahoa Parish needs disaster recovery aid, but also our bipartisan infrastructure bill,” Cassidy said.
“Challenges before us include completing recovery but building in resiliency,” Cassidy said.
