National Cheeseburger Day 2021: Where To Get The Best Food Freebies And Deals

National Cheeseburger Day is almost upon us! According to National Day Calendar, September 18 is the big day, so it's time to get in gear if you've yet to decide on how you will celebrate this momentous occasion. While National Today says we've just missed National Double Cheeseburger Day on September 15,,the upcoming holiday this weekend makes no stipulations as to size, so you can celebrate with a single, a double, or a triple burger as you see fit.

And yes, while we know every day is national something day, this one is a big deal. For starters, you've got to admit that cheeseburgers lend themselves to being more celebration-worthy than say something like sardines or Brussels sprouts. If you're still not quite on board with this foodie day, we've got two words guaranteed to change your mind: Free food. Or, at least, deeply discounted food. If you love cheeseburgers and you love a good bargain, here's where you can go to score a good deal this weekend.

The fast food deals you can get with an app

The trend with fast food chains lately has less to do with food and more with their apps, which are a great way to instantly access fab deals without a bunch of paper coupons stuffed in your wallet or having to track down a promo e-mail in your inbox labyrinth. And for National Cheeseburger Day, you're in luck if you already have these apps on your phone or maybe want to download a few more in the name of a good deal.

Wendy's is offering a BOGO deal on any of their premium cheeseburgers like the new Big Bacon Cheddar Burger or long-time favorite Baconator. As Brand Eating notes, this deal is available now through September 19. If you prefer a super-cheap cheeseburger, and/or you really don't have the appetite to eat two at a time, Mickey D's has an offer you might prefer instead. On the big day on September 18, the McDonald's app will have a one-day offer for a double cheeseburger priced at just $0.50, adds Brand Eating.

National Cheeseburger Day fast food deals you don't need an app to get

While Dog Haus is known for its tube steaks, they do have more than a few burgers on the menu, too. On September 18, according to a press release shared with Mashed, you can walk right in to any of their locations and order their signature cheeseburger for just $5, for in-store, dine-in, or takeout. The classic burger features Black Angus beef and comes with American cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and delicious "secret sauce" on a King's Hawaiian roll. The other cheeseburgers at Dog Haus are not included in this offer, however, which is a shame since they've got some out-of-the-ordinary options such as the "Freiburger" topped with a fried egg, coleslaw, and french fries. Sadly, this interesting-sounding burger isn't discounted, but we're hoping they might consider doing so for National French Fry Day (hint, hint).

Hamburger Stand is going the printable online coupon route for BOGO cheeseburgers on National Cheeseburger Day. The coupon doesn't specify whether you have to print it or can just show it on your phone, but it does have a scannable QR code so you probably don't need a printer to get this deal. It's good only on September 18 and only for regular cheeseburgers. Finally, if you're anywhere near a Smashburger on Saturday and you're really, really hungry, you might want to drop by and experience their super-sized double classic Smash Burger for just $5 for this one day only, says Brand Eating.

These fast-casual chains are also discounting cheeseburgers for the big day

If you prefer a burger that comes from a real sit-down restaurant, you can still score a cheap meal on National Cheeseburger Day at a few spots. Brand Eating says that anyone belonging to Red Robin's loyalty program can buy any burger on the menu and get another burger for 50% off. This deal is going on now and will run through September 19, and if you're a real Red Robin fan you might be pleased to hear that you can take advantage of this promo once a day while the offer lasts.

Applebee's will also be offering a burger bundle on September 18 only, but the catch here is, you can only get it if you're ordering takeout or delivery. This means that if you want that sit-down meal, you'll have to provide your own seat. And plate. And table. That being said, it's still a pretty decent deal, as you get a burger, fries, and a 30-ounce drink (non-alcoholic, of course) for just $9.99, says Brand Eating. You can order through the app if you want, but if you're less app-happy, you can also place your to-go order via the chain's website.
