Inter Milan legend Diego Milito has criticised Chelsea new boy Romelu Lukaku for leaving the San Siro this summer.

Milito, who scored two goals in Inter's famous Champions League win of 2010, has accused Lukaku of breaking promises to the club's supporters, after the latter told a Dutch broadcaster that he would be staying in Serie A for another season.

"There is one thing you should never do," the 42 year old told La Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Metro. "Make a promise you can't keep. A player like him, who has given so much, can go elsewhere but the fans are disappointed precisely because of those comments."

Milito also admitted that he was close to leaving 'I Nerazzurri' but said that unlike Lukaku, his heart was nowhere other than in Italy.

"I was close to Real Madrid and PSG," the Argentinian continued, as quoted by Football Italia. "But Inter was a life choice for me. I was at the top. I was happy. I was at the San Siro. That will always be home."

Lukaku played an instrumental part in Inter's title win last season, scoring 24 goals for Antonio Conte's side. He's also enjoyed an excellent start to life back at Stamford Bridge, netting 4 goals in as many matches for his new employers.

"He's super important, it's as easy as that," Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said after Lukaku's winner in the Champions League on Tuesday night, as quoted by Sky Sports. "You don't find many strikers of his quality.

We did win also without Romelu and produced results. But he was the type of profile we were missing, not just because of the talent but because of the personality. He's such a humble guy, a super communicator in the dressing room and that creates a certain energy around him in the team that we are proud of."

Next up for Lukaku and The Blues is a trip to London rivals Tottenham on Sunday.
