Ed Sheeran reveals his favourite beer is actually Victoria Bitter - but it's not the Aussie staple people may expect

Ed Sheeran has revealed what his favourite beer is in an Instagram Stories Q&A with fans on Thursday.

The 30-year-old singer said his favourite beer is actually Victoria Bitter in a surprising admission.

Although it's not the Aussie favourite he's a fan of, rather a British ale by the same name by Earl Soham Brewery.   

'It's called Victoria Bitter, and it's made by the Earl Soham Brewery... It's great,' he said in a video post.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music back in June, Ed revealed he used to drink 10 pints of beer a night.

But he said he changed his ways after discovering his wife of two years, Cherry Seaborn, was pregnant with their daughter, Lyra Antarctica, one.  

'My lifestyle completely shifted. Instead of going to bed at 6am, I'm getting up at 6am and well, earlier than that,' he explained as reported by The Sun.

He said that while he 'loved drinking everything in sight', he decided to change his hard-partying ways when Cherry, 29, was around six months pregnant.

Ed explained that as the baby's due date grew closer, he realised it was important for him to 'just be available and be the husband that I'm meant to be'.

'Like, I still have beer, but I won't have 10 pints. I'll have, like, three, and I still have burgers, but I won't have two, I'll have one,' he said. 

The Shape of You hitmaker detailed his experience with alcohol abuse in a candid video titled Finding Peace at the Top of the Music Industry in July 2020. 

'I have a very addictive personality. I would stay up and drink all night. The buses would park underneath arenas and I'd sleep on the bus all day and then wake up and then come out, do the show, drink, get back on the bus,' he said.
