Celtic vs Real Betis showed one weakness in Ange Postecoglou’s style

Heading into the game, Celtic fans probably would have taken a 4-3 away defeat against Real Betis in Seville. At the end of the day, not only are the La Liga side a good team but the Hoops also had several injury issues, which meant that their starting XI on the day was not nearly their strongest.

All things considered they had a decent game. But after going 2-0 up within the first 30 minutes, it is safe to say that it is a disappointment to not come with anything out of the game.

Defence has remained a worry for the Hoops for quite some time and it does feel like they could have avoided the goals that they conceded against Real Betis. And there in also lies one weakness in Ange Postecoglou’s style of football.

While Celtic are going to have many entertaining games this season, they are not going to be as fun to watch if they end up on the wrong side of results often. Thus, on occasion, they will need to sit back and try to grind out wins. There has to be a Plan B depending upon the situation.

Celtic’s defence has been a worry for quite some time

Defence has not been Celtic’s strong suit for a while now. And while playing their fast, attacking style of football, it leaves them more open at the back at times.

It is not just the defence that should be depended upon to prevent goals though. Very often the ball is given away in midfield which results in the chances being ultimately created for the opposition to score.

It is clear that Postecoglou wants his team to play beautiful and fluid football going forward and they are already doing that at times already. But then again, he will also have to make sure that they do not concede as many or more than they score. It is about finding that perfect balance. And till now, Postecoglou has not found that. Hopefully, he will as soon as possible.
