Vermont police investigating death of Mt. Holly woman in Killington

KILLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont State Police are investigating the death of a woman that occurred September 15 in Killington. Police say they received the call about the death around 7 p.m. that night. The death occurred inside a vehicle along Route 4 near the intersection with West Hill Road.

The victim is identified as Brittany Bouthiette, 28, of Mt. Holly, Vermont.

This is an ongoing investigation. Police say this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

According to witness statements, Bouthiette was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her boyfriend, Cody Ahonen, 28. Police say that Ahonen claimed that Bouthiette was desponded and pulled out a gun. Ahonen claims after a struggle over the weapon, Bouthiette shot herself.

The body brought to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy where they determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. The manner of death is still pending.
