One of two drivers injured in crash on Whaleyville Boulevard in Suffolk has died

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — One of the two people injured in a crash in the 1500 block of Whaleyville Boulevard Thursday afternoon has died.

According to Suffolk Police, 54-year-old Sean Perry died at the hospital.

The 2-vehicle crash closed the roadway in both directions as police investigated.

Police say the incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. and involved a passenger vehicle and van. The driver of both vehicles had to be extricated by emergency personnel.

One adult male was airlifted via Nightingale to a local hospital, while the male driver of the other vehicle was ground transported to a local hospital.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
