If you were the Boston Celtics’ president of basketball operations and had to choose between Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal or Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine to turn the Celtics into a superteam, which of the two Eastern Conference stars would you prefer to go after?

One is older and more established (Beal). The other is younger and cheaper with room to grow into his game (LaVine). Both would require a hefty offer from Boston’s front office in even the best potential situation from the Celtics’ perspective. Both can fill stat sheets and prompt questions about their fit and defense alongside Boston’s All-Star wings Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.
