The Rams and Golden Hurricane will meet as part of a doubleheader with Oklahoma State and Houston

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State will take on Tulsa on Dec. 18 as part of the Hoop Hype XL | College Basketball Showcase, December 18 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. This game will be part of a doubleheader with Oklahoma State taking on Houston in the other contest. This will be the second time in eight days that the Rams will play in Dickies Arena, as CSU will take on Mississippi State as part of a tripleheader in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Classic on Dec. 11 that includes North Texas vs. UMass, and Stephen F. Austin vs. Liberty.

This game is the second part of a two-game series that started in 2019, as CSU won a triple-overtime thriller, 111-104, over the Golden Hurricane in the BOK Classic at the Tulsa Convention Center. In the win, five Rams scored in double figures, led by then-freshman guard Isaiah Stevens' season-high 26 points and a school record-tying 12 assists. Then-sophomore Kendle Moore tallied a season-best 23 points, including a career-best and team season-high six three pointers. Then-freshman David Roddy posted his first collegiate double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds in a game that had 25 lead changes and 21 ties. Additionally, the 111 points for CSU was the second-most ever scored against a Division I opponent and the most ever in a road game.

Returning all five starters from its 20-win season and postseason berth in 2020-21, Colorado State is looking to continue its rise among the college basketball ranks. In his fourth year at the helm, Niko Medved has improved on the previous season's winning percentage in each of his eight years as a head coach. This year's Rams return more than 90 percent of production in each of the key categories (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and minutes) along with adding in a graduate transfer and two freshmen to the mix. Looking for their third consecutive postseason bid, the squad is led by juniors David Roddy and Isaiah Stevens. Roddy led the Rams in scoring (15.9 ppg) and rebounds while ranking second in minutes played, earning First Team All-District and All-MW honors. Stevens also garnered All-District and All-MW honors as he ranked 11th in the league in scoring (15.0 ppg) and second in assists (5.9 apg) while playing a team-high 35.2 minutes per game. Seniors Kendle Moore and Adam Thistlewood, Medved's first recruits to CSU, have been three-year starters and the quartet are all closing in on the 1,000-point mark in their careers.

Led by head coach Frank Haith in his eighth year at Tulsa, the Golden Hurricane return four starters and seven letterwinners from last year's squad that finished 11-12 in the COVID-shortened season, including 7-9 in the American Athletic Conference. Tulsa also adds seven newcomers to the squad, including graduate-transfer Jeriah Horne from Colorado. In 2019-20 when the two teams last met, Tulsa went 21-10 overall and 13-5 in the AAC to tie for the regular-season title.

Game times and ticket information for the event will be announced in the coming days, as well as the entire CSU non-conference schedule. Tickets and new fan-flexible mini-plans for the 2021-22 men's and women's basketball seasons, along with football and volleyball, can be purchased now by contacting the CSU Athletics Ticket Office at 800-491-RAMS (7267), csurams.com/tickets or ramtix@colostate.edu.
