John Calipari and Jai Lucas visit Cason Wallace

John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats have all the recruiting momentum in the world right now as they build an incredible 2022 class.

The class already ranks No. 1 overall in the country after picking up No. 5 overall player Chris Livingston on Wednesday night.

However, Calipari and his revamped staff are not done yet.

With the recruiting trail re-opened, the Kentucky staff is staying very busy, and they’re on the road again today as they are in Texas to visit Cason Wallace.

Assistant coach Jai Lucas posted a picture on Twitter of him in a private jet. Kyle Tucker noted that this means Lucas and Cal went together for the Wallace visit.

Texas Hoops TV director Michael Timmins confirmed that Calipari was in attendance. Lucas previously visited Wallace when the latest recruiting period began last week.

Wallace, who plays at Richardson High School (TX), is currently ranked as the No. 7 overall player in 2022 and the No. 2 overall combo guard via 247 Sports Composite.

Kentucky is currently considered the favorite to land the 6-foot-4 guard as they hold 100% of the Crystal Ball predictions with four experts logging picks.

Here is the scouting report of Wallace from 247 Sports’ recruiting analyst Brandon Jenkins, which includes a comparison to one-time NBA All-Star and two-time NBA All-Defensive First Teamer Jrue Holiday.

“One of the best defensive playmakers in the class, Wallace is more than capable of locking opponents up as he controls each game with his length and activity. He has an alpha male mentality, is a deflection magnet, and is one of the best transitional shot blockers in the country from the guard position. Offensively, he is a bit mechanical but still very productive nonetheless. He is a comfortable pull up jump shooter who is capable of putting points on the board from all three levels. He also can play on or off the ball and is similarly versatile in terms of his ability to play off a ball-screen or be an effective spot-up player on the weak-side of the floor. Wallace has the long-term upside to fill a role at the highest level of the sport for multiple years.”

Wallace could be the next piece to the massive puzzle Calipari is building for 2022, and they’re doing everything they can to make sure he ends up a Wildcat.
