Rosman's offense gets lined up against North Henderson earlier this season. The Tigers return to the field for the first time since Aug. 27 on Friday night when they host Avery County.

The high school football season is kicking into full throttle this week as teams enter Week 5 of the season with the start of conference play.

This week's lineup includes R-S Central (0-2) at Hendersonville (3-1), West Henderson (0-3) at North Henderson (2-1), East Henderson (1-1) at Franklin (3-0), Polk County (2-1) at Patton (0-2) and Avery County (0-4) at Rosman (0-2).

Brevard had to cancel its game against Andrews due to Andrews not having enough players. According to Athletic Director Mick Galloway, the Blue Devils will be looking for an opponent for its open date on Oct. 1.

Here are the top three things to look for on Friday night.

1. Another Henderson County showdown: Although the Henderson County championship has already been decided with Hendersonville beating all three county teams, there are still some county-rivalry games set to be held in the coming weeks. The first will be Friday as West, still looking for its first win, travels to North. The North Knights are coming off a big win at Owen, where running back Hazahn Collington had 262 yards and four touchdowns. West is coming off its bye week. Its last game was on Sept. 3, a game it lost to Polk County by a final of 26-14.

2. Rosman returns: After having to sit out two weeks due to COVID-19 protocols, Rosman's football team will finally be back in action and at home as it hosts Avery County. Both teams are winless. The last time Rosman played a game was on Aug. 27 at North Henderson. In that game, the Tigers fell to the Knights by a final of 56-21. The two games Rosman couldn't play were the Sept. 3 home game against Enka and the Sept. 10 away game against Cherokee.

3. Hendersonville looking to rebound: Hendersonville had to find an opponent in a hurry last week after Mountain Heritage had to cancel due to COVID-19 protocols. The Bearcats ended up playing one of the best teams in South Carolina in Daniel, which has Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney's son, Clay, as a wide receiver. The Bearcats will look to rebound from that loss Friday as they begin conference play against R-S Central, which is winless on the year at 0-2.
