Poker Run, Cruise-In, Family Fun Day in Ohio County to Benefit Oasis Shelter
The Last Days Motorcycle Ministry Warrior Chapter & Friends are hosting a beautiful fundraiser to support the Oasis Shelter. Come out to Ohio County Park for a day of fun for everyone. Here's the schedule of events.
I know firsthand how much the motorcycle community comes together for those in need. Whether it's for a local family that is going through a trying time, raising money for the children at St. Jude, or helping the Christmas Wish program, this community of wonderful and giving souls always come through. They don't discriminate based on your beliefs, race, color, religion, or gender. It's all about helping someone when it's needed the most. I'm just blessed to call many of them my dear friends! So, it comes as no surprise that so many want to step up to help those suffering from domestic violence in our area.
About the Oasis Shelter
The OASIS shelter is a Domestic Violence Program and licensed Women’s Substance Treatment provider for battered women and/or homeless, chemically dependent women and their dependent children. OASIS addresses the unique needs of victims of domestic violence – whether trapped in the cycle of violence and/or the cycle of addiction. Located in Owensboro, Kentucky, and built on the “Empowerment Model”, OASIS provides a safe place for women and their children to escape the trauma and devastation of domestic violence and/or substance abuse.
When I was just 21 years old I dealt with domestic violence and it was one of the hardest times of my life. My boyfriend at the time was very controlling and abusive. I won't go into all of the details because it can still be raw even after all of these years. But, I will tell you when I was in it, it was hard to get out of it. Very hard. Luckily, I had a big support system to help steer me away before something, besides bruises, torn clothes, and destruction happened. I feel very blessed looking back at that time. Not everyone is so lucky. That's why Oasis plays such a key role for so many that are suffering from domestic violence. They are such an important part of Daviess, Henderson, Union, Webster, Ohio, Hancock, and McLean Counties. And, this is why fundraisers are so important so they can continue to do their life-changing work.
Family Fun Day Fundraiser
What a great way to kick off Domestic Violence Awareness month! Come out to Ohio County Park on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 from 10 AM until 4 PM for an afternoon of fun for the entire family. The Last Days Motorcycle Ministry Warrior Chapter & Friends invite the entire community to come out to raise money for the Oasis Shelter.
Car, Truck, and Bike Cruise-In & Poker Run
Join hundreds of auto enthusiasts for the car, truck, and bike cruise-in. I just love the roar of the engines and hanging out with fellow classic car enthusiasts. Whether you want to show off your classic car, truck, or bike or you just want to just check out the best vintage vehicles in town, there will be something for everyone!
Family Fun Day Events
The kids will have a blast at the event! There will be tons of games with prizes, bounce houses, face painting, coloring contests, and more. Bring the kids out for all of the fun activities that are planned. There will also be a live auction, live music, food trucks, and Oasis counselors will be on hand to share more about their important mission and how you can support them.
