Lil Nas X Addresses Boosie Badazz’s Homophobic Comments: ‘I Don’t Really Care’
Lil Nas X is finally sharing how he feels about Boosie Badazz‘s homophobic comments about him and his imagery. During an appearance on The Breakfast Club on Thursday (Sept. 16), the “Industry Baby” rapper told hosts Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy that the comments don’t bother him as much as people might think it does.

“I was listening to Boosie in the club the other day. I don’t really care. Honestly, I wish they didn’t say it, I guess,” Lil Nas said. “But I like the music, I’m gonna listen to the music. If somebody got beef with me, that doesn’t mean I got beef with them.”
The “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” artist also briefly broached the subject of the hateful remarks during his appearance on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning. Asked if he had considered replying, the rapper responded, “Only if I have something really witty.”
As for whether he’d ever collaborate with Boosie? Don’t bet on it. “I’m into forgiving people, but I’m just genuinely not interested in making a song with him,” Lil Nas X explained, adding that the same would hold true even before the homophobic comments. “That’s nothing against him. That’s not my vibe.”
In July, Badazz defended DaBaby’s homophobic comments at Rolling Loud Miami and called Lil Nas X “the most disrespectful motherf—er in the world.” And after Lil Nas joked that and he and Jack Harlow would perform their song “Industry Baby” in their birthday suits at the VMAs for charity, the “Nasty, Nasty” rapper responded, “If I’m at the awards and he go up there naked, I’ma drag his a– offstage and beat his a–.”
Speaking about collaborations — which his debut album Montero will feature a number of when it drops Friday (Sept. 17) — Lil Nas also revealed on The Breakfast Club that he had reached out to Nicki Minaj and Drake to see if they were interested in doing a feature on his album. While he said he received “no reply from Nicki,” Drake showed interest in a collaboration that wasn’t able to happen. “He was still working on Certified Lover Boy, and whatnot, and he was 100 percent focused on that,” the 22-year-old told the hosts. “This was like a few weeks ago, and I understood completely, and he said he’s down to do something, but just not the right time. He was trying to get his own s— together.”
During the chat The Breakfast Club, Lil Nas X — who in recent months has been making headlines for his headline-making visuals — also addressed the calls from parents for him to feel some responsibility for the young kids who admire him, saying he no longer feels the need to be a good example. “I feel like I used to, but now it’s just like … we really get one chance to do this, at least to my knowledge. I don’t know what happens when we die or whatnot. So it’s like, I’m not about pander to your kids — or you,” he said. “I even have to do this with my family members, like, because my family members may not always agree with what I’m doing. Or whoever I’m dating, they may not agree. But it’s like, I honestly truly want to live by ‘This is our life, so f— what anybody else has to say about it.’”
