Onondaga County hopes to use doctor's offices, pharmacies and a county-run point of distribution for COVID-19 booster shots under its new rollout plan, once the shot receives approval from the federal government.
At a briefing Thursday, County Executive Ryan McMahon said the county health department is working to determine which doctor's offices will participate in the booster shot initiative. McMahon said he believes all pharmacies will participate, and the county-sponsored site will likely be located at the War Memorial or the OnCenter in downtown Syracuse.
The county is also communicating with the state over whether the Fairgrounds will need to be used.
The county reported 100 new cases on Thursday, making a total of 991 active cases. There are 96 people in county hospitals with COVID-19, and 21 are in intensive care.
