Counterfeit Olympic Gold Medals Seized At CVG – Here’s What’s Snappenin

Fifty counterfeit gold medals designed to look like those from the Tokyo games were seized in Cincinnati.

A Gold Medal is made of 394 grams of sterling silver. With only 6 grams of 24 karat gold coving it.  Made from recycled materials.

At the price of gold and silver, a gold medal is worth about $624 in materials. Plus labor to make them look legit.

678 gold medals were awarded this year. Any one of them could have been copied or a mold made out of.

With barely anyone watching from home and nobody in the stands, this years gold medal winners are the least known celebrities in the sports world. Which will make it easier to be a fake champion.

This week a bunch of Fake Olympic medals were seized at CVG,

Federal officials with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

Fifty counterfeit gold medals — designed to look like those from the Tokyo games — were seized.

Customs officials said the package came from Hong Kong and was being shipped to Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Officials did not elaborate on the seizure further, saying only, “Obviously, the recipient thought they deserved a participation medal.”

Photos shared of the medals include the Olympic marks and logos, reading “Tokyo 2020” on the back.
