SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan Surprise Drops Mellow New Solo Single ‘Dream’: Listen

Surprise, SEVENTEEN fans! On Thursday (Sept. 16), the group’s social media pages were updated to reflect that a new single, titled “Dream,” was released to their YouTube account, a move that comes as a delight as there was no previous announcement leading up to the drop.

In an even bigger surprise, “Dream” isn’t the work of SEVENTEEN as a group. Instead, it highlights member Jeonghan’s talents alone, as he sings on the track and is credited as both a writer and producer.

The song serves as a departure for SEVENTEEN’s usual K-pop sound. Rather than the hard hitting synth, hip-hop, and EDM beats that serve as a staple of the group’s songs, Jeonghan opts for a mellow acoustic instrumental to carry him through the lyrics. The song — which also features writer, producer and arrangement credits from PRISMFILTER’s Glenn and Nmore — is available for fans to enjoy in both Korean and Japanese.

Jeonghan’s solo single comes after SEVENTEEN’s most recent EP, Your Choice: 8th Mini Album, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart in July, where it remained for 11 weeks. The single arrives before SEVENTEEN’s planned comeback as an 11-member group — Chinese members Jun and The8 are returning to their native China, which led the group to temporarily promote new projects without them until December 2021.

In a statement released by their agency, Pledis Entertainment, Jun and The8 “will resume their work in China that had been postponed by COVID-19 and spend time with their families after having been forced to stay apart from them for a considerable amount of time due to the pandemic.”
